Following the success of 15 second harp - my online pledge to post any 15 second composition sent to me online (500+ miniatures to date) - I started doing one-to-one Composer Workshop Collaborations via Zoom in 2020.

For a pre-agreed fee I work with composers on a solo harp piece through Zoom sessions culminating in a recording session.

I have also worked this way with a number of composition students at Hong Kong Baptist University and for Masters level composers studying at the University of Manchester. I have also been booked to record multiple 15 second harp videos for students in the Junior Department of the Royal Northern College of Music. The youngest group of composers (from aged 2 upwards) I have worked with sent me graphic scores!

Initial consultation

In our first one-hour Zoom call I will give you an introduction to the harp, playing through existing harp repertoire and discussing your initial ideas. I am also very happy to sight-read through rough sketches.

Topics that we might cover:

• The basics including range, standard playing techniques and music presentation

• Harp pedalling

• Extended techniques

2 x workshops

We will then have two hour-long workshops on your solo harp piece. These will be tailored to your level, experience and desired outcome. I will play what you have written on the Zoom call and give feedback. Aspects we will cover:

• any impracticalities

• notation

• pedalling

By the end of the second workshop you will know exactly how the piece needs to be altered to be ready for the recording session.

Professional Recording

This is what you will be working towards! I will record your finished solo harp piece from my home studio set-up and you will receive a high-quality recording. If you would like a professional video recording this can be arranged with a partnering film company.
